Here is the link for the full interview: https://youtu.be/R1cwlWGOaXg

Professor Simon Baron-Cohen is a legendary scientist in the field of autism and related conditions. He is also the director of the Autism Research Centre at The University of Cambridge, UK.

I had the privilege of speaking with him about early signs of a possible autism diagnosis, the role of empathy in autistic individuals and how this translates into certain behaviors. We also spoke of some fears that some autistic people have that autism genetics research could lead to eugenics, and how he is opposed to eugenics.

I have followed Prof. Simon’s work for nearly two decades and have always felt that he shows an incredible amount of empathy and insight into the lives and experiences of autistic individuals. My hope is that by watching this interview with Prof. Simon, the intention of his dedication is portrayed.

Please keep comments respectful, as we believe that the only way we can truly learn from one another is through empathy and patience.   Thank you, Prof. Simon for being a highly empathic scientist.  -Karla
